If there’s one thing that I feel like the folks in the US definitely got it right on, it’s their holiday system. I mean, the idea is really simple, but the effect is just brilliant… pure brilliance! When the holidays are always the first-, second-, or third-, etc monday of some months, every time there’s a day off, it’s always going to be a 3-day long weekend.
I really don’t know about the others, but I have to admit that I really do hate having a mid-week holiday, ESPECIALLY one on a Thursday. I mean, when you have a day off on a Thursday like that, you don’t really get to feel like you’ve rested, your boss still expects you to get the work done before the end of the week, and it makes the Friday feels like another Monday. Imagine that — a week with two MONDAYS and zero FRIDAY… that does kinda suck, yes?

LOL. I heard that Japan has a “happy Monday” law, too. Under that policy, all holidays that occur during the week will have the day off on Monday to give people a three-day holiday instead.
>> Val: there SHOULD be a law like that in every country!!!! right, right, right???
